Looking your Best for your Wedding

By Anne Fennell

With wedding season approaching, many couples are in the final planning stages of this important life event. On this big day, it's natural for everyone to want to look their best. In the run-up to their wedding, some men and women spend hundreds of dollars on beauty products and skincare treatments.

During the stressful few months before a wedding, a facial or a back massage is the perfect way to relax. It can be very hectic doing all the planning, but if you get your nails done or have a spa day, it will help you unwind. You might also look into another treatment that is becoming more popular with the soon-to-be-wed. To look their best, more and more brides and grooms to-be are turning to Botox. Making a good impression at the wedding is important; the pictures are going to stay with you for the rest of your life, so it is important that you feel confident in your skin.

Before your wedding, how long should you wait to have Botox?

The Botox injections should be done one month before the big day, at least. A test-run is important; if you have never had it before it is understandable that you may feel a little nervous, even though Botox treatment is quick and safe. We advise you to have it done at least a month before though, because it can take about 7-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment.

Also, you should avoid alcohol, facial massages and extreme changes in temperature such as steam rooms and sauna's for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure- so take this into account when arranging your wedding activities like stags and stagettes.

Botox injections are relatively painless but you might find that you experience slight tenderness and mild pain during the injection. There may be some minor swelling immediately after the injection; however this normally settles after about 30 minutes. We recommend you have it done in advance because you may also get some slight bruising the next day, although this is relatively uncommon.

Botox is usually a good treatment for the wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, and frown lines. During the big day, you may find yourself overwhelmed with emotions and this may be evident in your facial expressions. If you want to get rid of some wrinkles before your wedding, Botox can help you do away with frown lines in the area between your eyebrows, crow's feet around your eyes, or unwanted horizontal lines across your forehead.

Also popular as preparation for a wedding or other significant occasion is an excessive sweating treatment called hyperhidrosis. Sometimes, in response to hot temperatures, stress or emotion, people sweat excessively, so this could be a concern for a momentous event like your wedding.

With a wedding coming up, if you are thinking about Botox, be sure to give yourself at least a month so that your muscles can completely respond to the treatment, and you get the fullest results.
